Países Bajos - 12/09/2021
Seguimos avanzando por Europa en nuestra pequeña casa móvil. El covid continúa condicionando nuestro viaje y solo pudimos pasar un día completo en Andorra y unos diez en Francia. ¡Qué pena viajar tan rápido! No obstante, estamos disfrutando mucho del camino. Ya en Países Bajos nos damos un tiempo para descansar.
Andorra me resultó curioso: un país tan pequeño con su carretera principal plagada de edificios, gasolineras y rotondas. Afortunadamente, pudimos tener todo un día para caminar por uno de sus valles alejados de la carretera. Lagos, arroyos, montañas.. Un paisaje exuberante que disfrutamos plenamente. Algún día me encantaría volver para recorrer otros valles y mejor con un poco de nieve o con un mucho y poder esquiar.
Es cierto que yo tengo una fijación con los ríos, pero sin proponerlo, Francia se convirtió en la tierra de los ríos. Comenzamos buscando pasar una noche en la orilla de un río, luego en otro y así cruzamos el país. Casi todo el tiempo fue por carreteras secundarias atravesando pueblos a cual más lindo, algunos medievales, otros simplemente encantadores. Los precios comienzan a subir: el gasoil, los restaurantes, unos cafés..., así que las cenas en nuestra casa en la ribera de algún río se tornaron un placer muy conveniente.
Julio no es el mejor mes para visitar Francia y menos en pandemia, así que decidimos ir evitando todo lo que nos parecía famoso y turístico. Seguro que si un francés ve por donde cruzamos el país se echaría las manos a la cabeza por tantos lugares bonitos que nos perdimos, pero realmente era lo que nos apetecía y nos permitió disfrutar plenamente una Francia más tranquila. En el tintero quedan una inmensidad de atractivos por los que merece la pena regresar: Bretaña, Normandía, Chamonix, Champagne, París…
Cruzamos Bélgica en unas pocas horas hasta entrar en Países Bajos a tiempo para una vacuna. A partir de ahora ya no tenemos prisa. ¡Qué alivio!
Países bajos tiene cuatro veces más densidad de población que España o Francia. Además, es un país muy eficiente y optimizado. Para lograr que tanta gente esté tan bien organizada, Holanda está repleta de normas y regulaciones. Al principio me costó adaptarme, pero con un poco de paciencia las he ido aceptando y he podido disfrutar mucho de este bonito país rebosante de canales, bicicletas y con sus casas y jardines gezellig. No obstante, debo añadir que encontrar sitios para esconder la furgo por la noche en un país tan plano y poblado implicaba una buena dosis de dificultad.
Dentro de la organizada y conservadora Holanda, hay un parque temático llamado Ámsterdam y, en especial, su "Red Light District". Este paraíso para muchos turistas está pensado para ellos, con OCIO a todas horas, menos normas e información en inglés. Independientemente de esos atractivos, Ámsterdam es una ciudad hermosa en la que merece la pena dejarse perder por sus canales.
Nuestro camino ahora apunta hacia el este de Europa. Teniendo en cuenta que nuestro coche viejito se compró pensando en recorrer sólo Canarias, por lo que no lo preparamos nada para el frío y la lluvia, ahora veremos hasta dónde nos quiere llevar.

The Netherlands - 12/09/2021
We continue going through Europe in our little house. The covid continues to condition the trip and we were only able to spend one day in Andorra and about ten in France. What a shame to travel so fast! However, we are enjoying the journey a lot. Now in The Netherlands we take time to rest.
Andorra is curious, such a small country with its main road full of buildings, gas stations and roundabouts. Fortunately, we were able to have a whole day to walk through one of its valleys away from the road. Lakes, streams, Mountains ... A lush landscape that we fully enjoy. Someday I would be happy to return to explore other valleys and better with some snow or with a lot and be able to ski.
In canary island there are no rivers and because of that I love them, but without looking for them, France became the land of rivers for us. We started looking for a river to spend the first night, and then the second and finally, we spent most of the nights in France next to a river. We drove most of the time on secondary roads through towns really beautiful, some medieval, others simply charming. Prices began to increase: diesel, restaurants, some cafes ..., so dinners at home or on a riverbank became a very convenient pleasure.
July is not the best month to visit France and even worse in Covid time, so we decided to avoid everything that seemed famous and touristy. Surely if a French realizes how we crossed the country he would be very surprised for so many beautiful places that we lost, but it really was what we wanted and it allowed us to fully enjoy a quiet France. One day we would love to come back to enjoy so many attractions that are calling us: Brittany, Normandy, Chamonix, Champagne, Paris ...
We crossed Belgium in a few hours until we entered the Netherlands in time for a vaccination. From now on we are no longer in a hurry. What a relief!
The Netherlands has four times more population density than Spain or France. In addition, it is a very efficient and optimized country. To keep so many people so well organized, The Netherlands is full of rules and regulations. At first it was difficult for me to adapt, but with a little time I have been accepting them and I have been able to enjoy this beautiful country full of channels, bicycles and with gezellig houses and gardens. However, I should add that finding places to hide the van at night in such a flat and populated country involved a good deal of difficulty.
Within the organized and conservative Netherlands, there is a theme park called Amsterdam and, especially, its "Red Light District". This paradise for many tourists is designed for them, with LEISURE at all hours, less rules and information in English. Regardless of those attractions, Amsterdam is a beautiful city worth getting lost in its canals.
Our path now points to eastern Europe. Taking into account that our old car was bought with the intention of traveling only in the Canary Islands, so we did not prepare it for the cold and rain that we probably are going to find. Let's see how far it wants to take us.
