[English below] Es un tópico pero es cierto: Galápagos es un paraíso de fauna marina. Basta dar un paseo junto al mar o hacer snorkel en algún punto a pocos minutos caminando, para maravillarte de lo que ves: además de infinidad de peces tropicales puedes cruzarte con algún grupo de rayas, disfrutar del movimiento pausado de las tortugas, admirar las afiladas formas de tiburones de Galápagos pequeños (de 50 o 70 cm), disfrutar cuando un león marino viene a jugar contigo, contemplar pelicanos, fragatas, iguanas....
Me maravilla este archipiélago. Tiene un potencial turístico enorme. Sin embargo, la mayor parte de las playas paradisíacas yacen desiertas para ser disfrutadas solo por la fauna local. Aquí la conservación de la naturaleza es lo primordial. Los turistas se acercan con tours a algunos de estos enclaves pero solo por un rato. En estas islas el negocio turístico también mueve mucho dinero, pero en vez de construir miles de hoteles (de que me suena) lo que se ha hecho aquí es cobrar caro los tour y la entrada al archipiélago.
Por supuesto que si vienes a Galápagos merece la pena hacer varios tours de snorkel o buceo. Los lugares donde se realizan estas actividades son extraordinarios y la cantidad de fauna marina aumenta en número y belleza. Sorprende ver cómo tiburones Galápagos, tintoreras, martillos, etc. con tamaños en torno a 3 metros, se pasean junto a las personas sin importarles (afortunadamente!!)
Uno aquí se siente pequeño ante la grandeza de la naturaleza. Los animales nos miran sin miedo. Ellos son los pobladores de este paraíso y nosotros tenemos la oportunidad de admirarlos con gran respeto.
Galápagos son varias islas e islotes pero sólo 4 están habitadas. En cada una de ellas no hay mucho más que el pueblo alrededor del puerto, el resto es Parque Nacional protegido. En concreto me asombra la isla Isabela cuya superficie es dos veces la de Tenerife y su pueblo llamado Puerto Villamil sólo tiene 1748 habitantes (Wikipedia). Allí hice el tour de snorkel llamado "Los túneles" (100 $). En lancha estuvimos cerca de 1 hora yendo hacia el sur. El snorkel fue extraordinario, vimos 2 caballitos de mar, tiburones, tortugas.... Luego caminamos un poco para ver los famosos piqueros de patas azules. Fue un día precioso. Una sobredosis de belleza natural. De vuelta en el barco iba contemplando las playas desiertas y cruzaba los dedos deseando que ese paisaje virgen siga resistiéndose al turismo de masas.

Galapagos
It is a topic but it is true: Galapagos is a marine fauna's paradise. It is enough to take a walk by the sea or snorkel at some point just a few minutes away, to enjoy yourself at what you see: in addition to countless tropical fish you can cross with a group of rays, enjoy the leisurely movement of the turtles, admire the sharp lines of small Galapagos Sharks (50 to 70 cm), amuse when a sea lion comes to play with you, contemplate pelicans, frigates, iguanas ....
I really enjoy this Islands!!! It has a huge tourist potential. However, most of the paradise beaches lie deserted to be enjoyed only by the local fauna. Here the nature's conservation is a real target. Tourists reach with tours some of these spots but only for a while. In these islands the tourist business also moves a lot of money, but instead of building thousands of hotels (as it's normal anywhere else) what has been done here is charging a high fee to tours and the entrance to the archipelago.
Of course, if you come to Galapagos, it is worth doing several snorkeling or diving tours. The places where these activities are carried out are extraordinary and the quantity of marine fauna increases in number and beauty. It is surprising to see how Galapagos sharks, tintoreras, hammers heads, etc. with sizes around 3 meters, swim alongside people without caring (fortunately!!)
One person here feels small in front of the greatness of nature. The animals look at us without fear. They are the inhabitants of this paradise and we have the opportunity to admire them with great respect. Even the big shark during a dive tour don't care about you. That's not bad!
The Galapagos are several islands and islets but only 4 are inhabited. In each of them there is not much more than the town around the port, the rest is protected National Park. On the ship going back I was contemplating the deserted beaches and crossed my fingers wishing that this virgin landscape continues to resist mass tourism.
