[English below] El reino de las montañas.
Así es Nepal para la mayoría de viajeros, pero Nepal es mucho más: es budismo e hinduismo conviviendo en armonía, retiros de meditación, gentes amables y con la determinación de volver a la normalidad tras el terrible terremoto del 2015.
Yo pude disfrutar de las montañas en dos trekking maravillosos: el Langtang y el Annapurna Base Camp. En ambos comienzas en bosques húmedos, encajonados en valles profundos surcados por ríos y acabas contemplando la espectacular grandiosidad de las altas montañas del Himalaya.
El hinduismo es la religión predominante y es un placer ver como los devotos nepalíes realizan sus ofrendas y plegarias en la infinidad de templos y lugares sagrados que encuentras por doquier. Siempre con el gran colorido de sus saris y su delirante iconografía de dioses y demonios.
Tuve la suerte de ir hasta Lumbini, el lugar donde nació Buda, quedarme dos días en un templo y poder realizar algunas de las meditaciones con los monjes. Fue muy breve, pero suficiente para picar mi curiosidad.
Por último me quedó pena de no haber tenido más tiempo para convivir con los nepalíes haciendo algún voluntariado, pero decidí seguir mi viaje sabiendo que algún día me gustaría regresar dejando a un lado las montañas y centrándome en disfrutar de esta cultura pacífica y amigable. Para poner un ejemplo de esta forma de ser, basta mencionar su forma de saludar: con las manos juntas como para rezar y una ligera inclinación de cabeza, dicen "Namaste" que significa: "Saludo la divinidad que habita en ti". Una buena forma de comenzar una conversación!!!!

The Mountains' kingdom.
That is Nepal for most travelers, but Nepal is much more: it is Buddhism and Hinduism coexisting in harmony, meditation retreats, nice people and determination to return to normal life after the terrible earthquake of 2015.
I have been able to enjoy the mountains on two wonderful trekking: the Langtang and the Annapurna Base Camp. In both you begin in humid forests, inside deep valleys crossed by rivers and end high, admiring the spectacular Himalayas' mountains.
Hinduism is the predominant religion and it is a pleasure to see the Nepalese devotees make their offerings and prayers in the myriad of temples and sacred places that you find everywhere. Always with the great color of his saris and his delirious iconography of gods and demons.
I was fortunate enough to go to Lumbini, the place where Buddha was born, to spend two days in a temple and to perform some of the meditations with the monks. It was very brief, but enough to bite my curiosity.
Finally, I felt sorry for not having more time to live with the Nepalese doing some volunteer work, but I decided to continue my journey thinking that one day I'll return, leaving aside the mountains and focusing on enjoying this peaceful and friendly culture. As an example of this way of life, it's enough to mention its form of greeting: with hands together like praying and a slight inclination of head, they say "Namaste" that means: "I greet the divinity that lives in you". A good way to start a conversation!!!!
